Gourmet tacos and artisanal coffee are not two combinations that you would immediately place together – but it’s an amazing combination nevertheless. Combining trendy minimal decor with some traditional Mexican touches, at Afterwit South American culture and uber-cool aesthetics come together to create this taqueria on North Bridge Road. At this stylish Bugis restaurant you will find tacos, burritos, quesadillas and other South American favourites all served up alongside Singapore’s finest speciality coffee.

As the name suggests, Afterwit’s concept was somewhat of an afterthought, originally intended as just a cafe until the owners had the ingenious idea of throwing in some delicious Mexican inspired food to the mix too. With an extensive range of delicious street-style tacos and burritos, Afterwit have got the basics well covered, but you will also find a range of special dishes as well, bringing the vibrant flavours of Mexican cuisine right to Singapore’s Bugis.

Try some mejillones en mantequilla de ajo – mussels in garlic butter and lemon sauce topped with cilantro and pico de gallo, or a Mexican-inspired tortilla pizza topped with herb and tomato sauce, jalapenos, cheddar, mozzarella, olives, onions and refried beans. Also on the menu is a selection of brunch options such as huevos Benedictos – a Mexican take on eggs Benedict with roast beef and mushrooms topped with chipotle hollandaise sauce served with a toasted brioche, mesclun and corn chips. Putting as much love and passion into making the perfect cup of coffee as they do with their food, wash your Mexican meal down with Afterwit’s own artisanal blend. Book a table in advance though as this Bugis restaurant on North Bridge Road pulls in quite a crowd of Singapore’s foodies and caffeine addicts alike!
