Nice place and very kind staff! I highly recommend this bistro also because of the location and the wide selections of wines. Food is fine as well though the menu is a bit too limited
Excellent experience. The staff were friendly and very good. The food took a little while to arrive, the only minor complaint, but was very tasty. And a great selection of wines. Will be back!
Nice ambience and professional sommelier. Good selection of wines, friendly service by service staff. Food was tasty - modern contemporary. Hope to visit again soon. 🙂
Great service but standard of food seemed to have drop since the last I visited in June. Still a pleasant experience nonetheless. Was offered a complimentary Prosecco as it was my birthday.
Very good service and nice food. Slightly expensive wine but then that's Singapore! Hosts were very accommodating to us. Nice atmosphere for a casual dinner
Awesome food. Awesome wine pairings. Awesome service! Totally coming back
we love the food, ambience, wine selection and not to mention great service! Definitely a good place to chill out with friends. We'll be back :)
A nice little bistro with friendly, knowledgable staff and a great selection of wines. I like that it's not pretentious at all so it's great for unwinding after work.
The atmosphere is causal and engaging. Great service from the staff! We had good recommendation of wine to pair with our food. A fantastic place for gathering with friends and family.
A very nice, cosy restaurant at Duxton. Great place to have dinner with good friends. Food variety is a bit limited but they have nice wines.
Excellent as usual. Gerald continues to be extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Great place for group meet up. Food was good. I will definitely be back!
Great service, food was good as well. Gerald the head sommelier is knowledgeable and friendly. Really enjoyed my time there. Will be back for sure!
an absolutely nice place to have some drinks to chill out with friends and clients and colleagues. well recommended and ambience and staff was good.
A bit disappointed by my last visit at Praelum. they didn't have the wine we wanted and only had more expensive ones to suggest, main courses all came at different times (there were 6 of us), and side dishes arrived late, once everyone had finished their food. some main dishes (such as lamb ribs) are very small for the price tag. the manager saw we were disappointed by the dishes arriving at different time and too late and nicely gave us free deserts (good commercial gesture that you rarely see in Singapore). overall experience: food is pretty good and place is chilled, but a bit pricey for some dishes and service can be improved.
An unforgettable evening being educated in some incredible wines. A nice casual environment where we sat at the bar and had two random flights of 5, being taught by a talented somm about the stories behind each wine and the pairings that would go with it. I would recommend this to anyone curious or passionate about wine!
Our table was near the entrance (with a door permanently opened) so it's like sitting in the smoking zone. The place was packed so we can't shift to a table further inside the restaurant. The food was pretty decent but after serving us some nice bread, the next course (scallops) came about an hour later. It took nearly 3 hours to wait and finish our soup, scallops, main course and dessert, all the while with cigarette smoke filtering in. The promised candle on the dessert (we were celebrating a birthday) didn't materialise either. However, they were nice to give us the dessert on the house. I suppose we've chosen a wrong place to celebrate as it's basically a watering hole.
Service was friendly n good. My friend and I enjoyed d escargot although it was a bit salty for my taste. D striploin was tasty and we enjoyed the salmon the most. It was wrapped in crispy pastry like a pie. The salmon was moist and tasty. Wide range of wines and free tasting before ordering. We liked that!
Food isn't bad but sadly another overpriced establishment again which Spore is littered with
Great food with extensive wine selection. Enjoyable and will return.
Gerald was a gracious host with great wine knowledge. I thoroughly enjoyed the Chianti Classico Riserva (Il Molino di Grace) he had recommended. Food here is really tasty - had the baked escargot and the Tarte flambée. Definitely would be back!
The service was excellent. The Angus beef steak and salmon that we ordered were delicious. I love the key lime pie but my friend found it too sour. Overall, great dining experience and will definitely go back again.
Food is freshly made and has great flavor even though we were told this is mainly a wine tasting place. On the pricey side. Overall, would have given 6 if not for ambience which was ruined by a large very noisy group of wine tasters. Also, replacing the plastic chairs will help with upping the ambience.
We ordered: Pork Pockets - tasty but can get sick of it if consume too much. Good for sharing Angus Steak - delicious Chicken & Mash - average Key Lime Pie - average
Nice Food, good environment, friendly staff and thoughtful. Love their baby ribs it was really delicious. Good place for a drink with choices of beverages.
Very nice food, the baked Camembert was a highlight with a side salad and friendly staff. Tried a different very nice wine than would normally have.
It's only my second time here but the owner remembered me and the wine I liked, and we were treated like royalty! So rare to find somewhere in Singapore with such amazing service. Will be back here for the food soon :)
Nice cosy place and very obliging service. The food was delicious as well as the wine (the beverages are a little expensive. Anyway I would definitely go back.
High quality food and wine. There was a large (comparative to the small bistro anyway) rowdy party on the day we were there so ambience was a little spoilt plus service was nothing memorable as their attention was on the bigger party.
A very relaxed vibe. Service was a bit rushed as the place was rather busy. Lots of interesting wines by the glass. The food menu is small, but the dishes we had were excellent - baked Brie, roasted prawns, salmon and beef cheeks, followed by chocolate fondant. Would recommend it!
We had a very enjoyable evening. The ambiance was nice and the service was good. It's a nice place to spend an evening with good friends.
Waited a long time for a table even though we made a reservation. Thank the food for being consistently good. Or the wait would have ticked me off
A great place to sample a wide variety of wines paired with excellent food. I will certainly consider going there again with a bigger group of wine loving friends.
Gerald is awesome in providing good tips on affordable wine out of their very fairly extensive winelist. Service and food was lacking a bit, but can be sorted out to enhance the dining experiences. Will be back again for the wine!
Roasted Brie was great. Wide variety of wines but rather pricey. Also dispenser to try the weekly wine special was faulty so could try that.
Nice restaurant with a good ambiance. Friendly service crew and sommelier who upped the whole dining experience with detailed and good recommendation of wine! Food was averagely good tho tad salty for my palate. Beef cheeks were very tender and love the bread too! will definitely be back =) Observed that the restaurant has a lot of regulars/friends. pretty much a good sign
We really enjoyed ourselves. Good food, great wine and a casual friendly atmosphere I found Praelum an excellent place to catch up with friends and unwind.
My partner and I had the pork parcels and salmon en-croute. The food was well-executed and unique. I personally felt that a little side salad would have given the dishes some balance and improved their overall presentation (they looked a little bare). On a random note, we noticed that the price difference between the menus in the restaurant and the one displayed on their website had price differences of about $10+ per dish. This is quite a jump and should be updated. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my meal here and recommend this place even for those who are not wine lovers.
service was fine. Wine list was long enough, but not something outstanding. Food was ok and that is why I rate it 4: nothing special, boringly cooked. I would not recommend it for dinning, only for drinking
The sommelier, Gerald at the restaurant was very helpful with our choice of wine. I would certainly come back again as they seem to know what they are selling.
Great selection of wines available in a small and cosy setting. Really enjoyed the dinner and drinks. Would love to see more variety on menu!
Food was very good and the service was excellent. They were very knowledgeable about their wine and dishes. Lots of backstory on the wines as well. Will definitely come again.
Great food and wine selection. Pork parcels and cod fritters were great! Riesling was pretty good too. As always, owner Gerald was fantastic and gave us a brief history of wine making in both Burgundy and Germany.
Food quality is good. The pork parcels are definitely a must try. However, when I made my reservation, I did state that I was going to use the entertainer 1-for-1 promo. They didn't say it couldn't be used that day even though they did contact me to ask about special requests and only informed me when I got to the restaurant.
Good service, good food, but can be more value for money
Great restaurant, enjoyed the food and the personalised wine recommendations. Noisy due to a rowdy group seated next to us, but I definitely would go back.
Try the steak, seriously. You won't regret it. Service is also consistently good, with the staff well-trained to provide lots of good advice on wines and wine pairings for the food.
The Baked Brie was absolutely divine. The main courses also fared quite well. Found the wine selection a little costly but that's Singapore for you :)
Food was impeccable and service was great. But the place could do better with some air conditioning. Our food took a tad long to reach the table but it could be due to the crowd on a Friday night.
a great spot, made enjoyable by the good food and wine and the very attentive and friendly staff who certainly add to the overall experience
Good food and wine! Excellent and attentive service. Servers are knowledgeable with both food and wine menu which is an extra thumbs up. But they no longer serve wine tasting portions.
