Went over the weekend. Surprisingly many kids who were running all over the place. This was quite surprising considering that this restaurant was located in an ‘ulu’ location. Food was so so, but the waiting time was long! The wagyu don took 45 mins to come! Disappointing considering that there were not that many tables around and most of the tables were already midway through their meals when we arrived.

Order 4 unagi/rice sets. All the Unagi was overcooked. The ends of the Unagi was overly dry. Not as moist as the other outlets. Saving grace: Beer tower has a great promo offer.

The food was amazingly good, and i really liked the ambience. Seeing the live eel tank was cool too! I only wished it was in a more accessible area. Other than that, no gripes!

I took a taxi there. It took a while and a Long walk before I found the place. My friends who came in a car and parked in the basement had problems too. Better signage would be very helpful.

Good taste and ambience. There is choice of alfresco too. Gave only 4 stars because it is expensive and location not convenient. Paid $100 for two.

Excellent food & service. One of the best Unagi I've ever had including those in Japan. Loved the slight skin crispiness . My sons were delighted with the rich flavours of the ramen soup. Real wasabi for a change. Only suggestion is to have a smaller mixed Sashimi plate. The current smallest portion is $100 . Reasonably priced. Will be back.

Came with my friends family and tried dishes from all 3 kitchens at Yamato. The unagi portions were large and we had difficulty finishing! Compared to the original Man Man, the serving here is much more generous. No queues, the restaurant is spacious and food is of a good standard. Ambience was great and have no complaints about the service either.

We came as a group of 6 and made a reservation through Quandoo. The process was smooth and fast and the service crew was attentive. We ordered the beer tower and it tasted great especially when sitting outdoor where the breeze of the wind made it even better. We ordered a sashimi platter and assorted tempura for us to share and it tasted extremely fresh. ordered mixes of ramen and unagi don and they were all cooked perfectly. will definitely bring colleagues and clients here to eat in the future.

The ambience of this restaurant reminds me of the time i ate at restaurants in Japan. it really felt like one and i thoroughly enjoyed the unagi that i ordered. There were some other stalls that provided different dishes but did not get the chance to try it. will try it the next time i come back!

Wonderful experience dining at Yamato Izakaya. Quality of the food was superb and the atmosphere was pleasant. Ordered ramen from Ramen Hitoyoshi and it tasted great. What's more, there is no queue for the restaurant can host a large number of people in it. Will come back to try the other stalls!

Came here with a big group of 8 people and we ordered their salmon belly boat sashimi by Tora Tora and was not disappointed. The chef was extremely skilled when it comes to preparing the dish as evident by the cuts of the fish and the quality of the fish provided. Would definitely order this in the future. The rest of us ordered a mix of all 3 stalls such as the unagi rice bowl, Futago don and ramen. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience at Yamato Izakaya and i would come back again.

Was here for a weekday dinner and the crowd was still crowded. Its location is around the Tai Seng industrial estate which made me think it wouldn't be that packed but it is. However, reservations are taken here so waiting time was not an issue. Staff were kind and polite. Food was satisfactory as the unagi and fish they used to cooked were of high quality based on the taste. Will come back to patronise the restaurant in future!

Cannot miss this restaurant as its Yamato signboard is such an attention grab. Indoor and outdoor seating available and parking is free on Sundays and PH. Great ramen we had, full of flavours and worth the money! Unagi from Man Man is fantastic. Can’t go wrong!

Booked for my brothers birthday lunch. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly! Not a fan of unagi but the rest of my family enjoyed it. I liked the ramen and crab chawanmushi. Everything was really reasonably priced and ambience was great. Parking was convenient just outside the restaurant as well.

Best in Singapore for reasonably priced top quality Japanese food. Located in an industrial estate which may be a bit different than in town but with free parking on weekends and the exclusivity of the place would definitely capture peoples attention to pay Yamato Izakaya a visit. Will be back for more.

If you haven't try Yamato Izakaya, you are missing out a lot. The restaurant offers 3 different brands which give a variety of different choices of food such as ramen, sashimi and rice bowl. I ordered the Kampachi cheekbone from the fish to share and also order a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen from Ramen Hitoyoshi. Known for their customisable bowls of ramen, i was able to request things like oil level and noodle texture. I would definitely come back here again.

A weekend dinner at Yamato Izakaya was memorable. From the large signboard to the creative decorative elements of the restaurant that mimics Japanese architecture, It is truly a good location to have dinner at. My family ordered a mix of ramen and Unagi rice bowl. they were all cooked to perfection as the texture of the noodles and thickness of the soup was how i indicated in my preference. Unagi tasted really nice due to the soy sauce that they dipped before serving. Wanted to try the Donburi from Tora Tora but didn't although i Will be coming back for it in future.

I came during dinner time with a group of friends for catching up and we ordered the special twin tower Sapporo beer for the weekends as they were having a special promotion going on and it was good as the beer coupled with the Japanese dish that Yamato Izakaya provided made the whole experience better. we ordered the sashimi boat platter to share amongst ourselves and we can tell it was really fresh. Furthermore, the Futago don that Tora Tora sold was an interesting concept that i have not seen in any other Japanese establishment. It's highly recommended to pay a visit to Yamato Izakaya as its a great place to whole a large number of people.

Wonderful dining concept by Yamato Izakaya where there was a mix of different types of Japanese food like Ramen and rice bowl. The famous Man Man Unagi also opened here! You can see the eels swimming in the tank so freshness is as good as it gets. Ate the Kampachi Hitsumabushi and really enjoyed the freshness of it. Will recommend this place to my friends.

Went here for a girls night out and it was a blast! The place offered beer towers which totally suits the outdoor environment as well as the food that they served. Wait staff were on the ball and responded eagerly when i asked for directions to the toilet. We ordered a number of side dishes like tempura, yellow fish cheekbone etc which goes well when drinking beer. Ordered the Unagi Ochazuke which is basically green tea poured into the rice and mixed with seaweed, wasabi and the unagi. Really great and filling. It's not every day you get to eat fresh wasabi to the point where you are grating the actual root. This is a place where you don't just come once but multiple times for the location and the capacity to hold a lot of people. Do make your reservations online first!

I swear this is one of the best places for Japanese food! free parking and not crowded even on weekends what's there not to like? Unagi is from the famous Man Man at Tanjong Pagar! There is no need to queue, as the restaurant takes in reservations. There were other stalls as well, like the ramen and sashimi rice bowl. Confirm will come back again! will bring my bros here to chill and drink!

As an avid fan of Japanese culture, the food is of importance to me especially if it's not eaten in Japan. But that all changed when I went down to Yamato Izakaya during the weekends. A promotion was ongoing which gave me 5% off when I follow their Facebook and Instagram page. What's more, the Man Man unagi was cooked by a Japanese chef and was evident by the quality of the dish served. The chef did all the cooking and preparing in front of me. It's always a wonder to watch chefs in action especially when they are confident enough to showcase it live. The texture of the unagi was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The portion was huge and filling. This place is highly recommended for Japanese lovers and enthusiast should they miss authentic Japanese food without paying for an air ticket to fly there.
