More about the restaurant: JC Coffee Houzz
Located along Joo Chiat Road, a residential conservation area in Singapore’s east, JC Coffee Houzz offers traditional Singaporean cuisine to diners seated in comfortable, air-conditioned surrounds. Traditional Singaporean cuisine? Hard to define, given Singapore’s cosmopolitan background, but let’s just say that JC Coffee Houzz’s Hainanese chicken chop is the best in the hood, and the coffee is done sock style, the way Singaporeans like it.

Joo Chiat Road is the main artery in one of eastern Singapore’s best preserved
residential conservation districts. Tucked away amongst the colourful shopfronts
along the street sits JC Coffee Houzz. Inside it’s a no-fuss environment, simple and
modern, where you can find the best Singaporean cuisine making room on a menu
that also features a few Western style dishes and delectable dim sum for those long
Sunday lunches with friends.
The Hainanese chicken chop is reputed to be the best in town, a traditional dish
hailing from Singapore’s colonial era that is served with tomato ketchup and the
more traditionally Asiatic oyster sauce, making for a classic fusion dish that shouldn’t
be missed, but isn’t readily available outside Malaysia or Singapore. The locals along
Joo Chiat Road also appreciate the fact that JC Coffee Houzz prepare their coffee
– or rather kopi – the Singaporean way, sock style. This means an
intense, high-caffeine brew usually using robusta rather than arabica
beans, specially roasted and brewed in a long-spouted pot using a cloth bag as an
infuser. That’ll keep you going long after you leave JC Coffee Houzz.
