Whampoa Keng Fish Head Steamboat 黄埔庆鱼头炉 - Balestier Road

My friend introduced the restaurant to me and I love their fish head steamboat. Would definitely go back again!

It was a revisit to the restaurant and the food is as good.

Family/ kids friendly and staff were friendly. Food acceptable. Will go back.

Overall the food is not bad and it’s not so crowded for lunch as compared to dinner 🥘

5 of us shared the Father’s Day dinner set for 4 which cost about $150. It came with red garoupa steamboat, seafood claypot, ginger chicken, tofu with minced meat and mango pudding and herbal jelly for dessert. Very filling and value for money! We added fried baby sotong which the kids and I liked a lot.

The fish hotpot taste great! Highly recommended when you patronize them!

Even though I have booked a table for five at 1830hr. We still had wait for a good 30 minutes.

Nice place to have an authentic fish head soup. Tasty and delicious. The abalone with broccoli and fried prawn rolls pair well with the soup too.

Food is still pretty good and consistent but service standards have dropped. especially by the two female bosses. Not a smile was in place.

Place a bit small but good food with decent portions.

The food was good, but the restaurant cleanliness and hygiene was poor. Peanuts and chilli sauce were laid out on the tables in advance before patrons even arrive, while there were houseflies and other insects in the restaurant which would land on them. There were also bits of food stuck to the bowl that was given to me. We ordered the set which stated broccoli as the vegetable dish, but we were served spinach instead. Upon checking with the server, the English description in the menu had an error and it was meant to be seasonal vegetables that were subject to change everyday. She offered to change it for us but we did not want the hassle so we said it was ok. Right after this, we were served clams from a different server, which was a dish we did not see to be part of the set. We had to get the staff’s attention again to clarify. Only then did they realise they had served the dish to the wrong table. They did not even apologise or thank us for notifying them. Before we finished our meal, another couple joined us at our table (we had to share tables as there are only tables for big parties), and they kept subconsciously hitting the table while they were talking, which was annoying and disruptive to our meal. The price was quite expensive ($98 for 2 pax). I would not mind paying such a price at a restaurant with a better ambience and service, but with the cleanliness level and mistakes made, i find it overpriced.

It was Mother’s Day menu so we ordered a 3pax menu for 5 of us. Servings was good and food was tasty. It was very crowded and I’m glad we made reservation. Service crew was friendly.

Their fish steamboat is great - not just adults, even our young kids love it! The KL Hokkien mee is also a family favourite!

Food is good as usual. But, Staff (prc younger lady) taking order should be more polite & put on smile, seems as if we owe her w her stuck-up hack-care attitude.

Still made to wait about 10 minutes despite reservation. The fish hotpot was good , other dishes so-so.

Is very very important that you make reservation before heading down. Food is nice in general and the waiting time for food to be served was pretty fast.

Went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded. Was served quite quickly after placing order. The fish soup and dishes ordered were good. Will be back again!

Good hearty fish broth especially on a cold rainy day

Could be better. Not a comfortable place to have a nice meal.

Place was almost full even though we booked and arrived at 6pm. Service was fast and food came quickly. They top up soup into hot pot without prompting. Food was tasty and price are clearly stated on menu. Will go again.

The soup of the steamboat is very flavourful. The service is good as they will replenish the soup frequently.

The foods are so so, still prefer the one at Killiney road but unfortunately already closed

Soup taste weird compared to the 1st time I had months ago. Won’t recommend.

Prompt serving of food and reasonable pricing. Place is air-conditioned.
