sambal kang kong, kai lan, seafood fried egg, otah, and asam fish. All the dishes tasted good except for the asam fish, worth visiting again! Great service.
The Kangkong was not spicy and not crunchy. Below average. The Sambal sotong was the best among the 5 dishes we ordered. The rest were average. Service was good though.
good food and service. very decent home cooked style of food. price was reasonable and service was not bad. will come back again if ever in the area
The food is overall nice but not spicy enough. Keluak only got 2 pc for small order. Dessert too coconuty taste. Not to my liking. Waitress are super friendly.
Awesome good, excellent service!! Special mentions go to the bak wan soup, the ayam buah keluak, the beef rendang, and the impressive otah! All dishes were served within 10mins. Rice was served straight from bowl to place by the friendly staff! Truly the one-stop Peranakan place!! 😊👍🏻
There are better Nonya restaurants around, food here is not authentic at all. Although thumbs up for great service. I would authenticity of food at 1 of 5 and service at 4 of 5.
The food wasn't that great but it wasn't bad. It was regular Peranakan food without the wow. Like what I've read in another review, go only if you have no other options available, which was exactly what happened to me.
Superb Peranakan food and friendly staff! I’ll definitely come back again. Prices are very reasonable. We had a private dining area. Although the place was full during lunch time, the staff assigned to our table did a very good job in attending to our needs. All the staff donned pretty nonya dresses!
Very good Chinese Peranakan food with prompt and friendly service staff! They even give complimentary kueh at the end of the meal! The decor gives the place an even more authentic feel!
We enjoyed all dishes. Especially fish head curry was very delicious. The service was good as well. We were happy to be served complimentary desserts.
Havent been to Straits Chinese restaurant for a while and we are all pleasantly surprised by how good the food still is. Love the buah keluak chicken and stew pork. Chendol is good too. Will be back again.
Good and fast service; friendly staff who helped order our dishes. Food was served quickly even the restaurant is very busy. Would recommend to friends.
The restaurant was not too crowded, which made for a good, relaxed lunch venue. Food was not too bad, but somehow not as fantastic as the other reviews I read.
Had the sweet & sour fish set lunch, fish was served cold. Was served tea ( pu-er from a pot but it was not even hot, it was room temperature) even after we said we don't need drinks and was charged. Michelin - seriously?
The Peranankan dishes are really good! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Thumbs up for the good service too😀 Highly recommended to those who like peranankan food.
The food was good. However, we went with 10 pax and there was 7-8 pax set in the menus of around 170++. They asked us to top up another 2 person which we did (19++ each). Came out the food was so small (size of 7-8 pax). And we only recieved 2 additional soup (and may be rice) out if the top up sets not additional quantity of food. They were nice but please do a fair set calculation.
I love the food and although it was over Chinese New Year period, service staff tried their best to attend to us promptly with very good energy. For the quality of the food and service standards, I will recommend this place.
Food was good especially the ayam buakualak. Ordered other food like satay babi, curry fish head, chup chye, otak otak, ngoh nghian, but was disappointed with the hainanese pork chop - it came as a plate of ketchup infused onion and fries more than any pork chop i can find.
Good consistent food, though they charge extra just because of the Chinese New Year
Very good service as staff are attentive and friendly. Food could have been better. We like the prawn fritter and Ayam buah kaluah. But the fish head is not flavourful enough and not much meat.
The lunch set is ok for the price. Service is prompt but slightly over enthusiastic in recommending the dishes. Taste wise is ok also but not as good as the best Peranakan food tried
Tried their ayam buah keluah, babi pong tay, curry fish head, chap chye, kueh pie ti, and durian pengat. Great food and service! Only disappointing dish was the kueh pie ti which was not crispy and tasty enough.
Had a great time at Straits Chinese. The Christmas buffet lunch is worth the money. Staffs are nice and good Serving portion is big! First timer Recommended
Good, not crowded on a Monday evening. Good attentive service. Provided a complimentary plate of their kuehs, and we were appreciative of their efforts to ensure we had a comfortable dining experience.
Wanted to bring a colleague from out of town for Peranakan food and found this restaurant on the internet. Was not disappointed. Food was good and price reasonable for a location in the city.
The food is quite authentic and very nice. Staff was very kind. However, this restaurant accepts a big tour group and a little bit noisy.
Overall food is not bad. Glad to find a Peranakan restaurant at Raffles area. Prices are reasonable, service is average but acceptable, Will dine again.
Service was fast. Ordered fish head curry , Sambal Kang Kong and chicken rendang . Food was average .
Never sick of the delicious Nyonya dishes at Straits Restaurant, prepared by fresh spices & ingredients; always a wonderful experience dining here 😃👍🏻
This place caters mainly for the PRC tour group. The quiet atmosphere was spoilt due to the noise from the tour group. Their peranakan food is not very authentic but nice and acceptable for us. However for some reason it doesn't have the wow factor that will draw us back again.
Food is tasty and the portion is just nice, services staffs are very friendly. Overall dining experience is great, but will have to avoid the lunch time due to the tour groups.
Great place near our office. We needed a large space for a lunch time work celebration. Had a party of 15 and this was arranged with no fuss. Great good. Although I'm not local {6years in Singapore} my local work colleagues loved the food. So did I. Great value for money.
